DIY House Numbers Made Out Of Tile

Tiles can be used almost anywhere. Garage floors, kitchen counters, exterior walls, house address numbers..... Wait, house address numbers? Yes; the use of tile is limited only to your imagination!
Since tile is chemically inert, unaffected by UV light and resistant to temperature, tile makes a great material for this project.

Since porcelain tiles are generally inexpensive, making house numbers from tile is actually much more economical than buying large address numbers, which can cost a lot. These numbers were made with black 12” x 12” porcelain tiles, which can be easily found. Choose a tile with  "through body colour" so the edges will be the same colour as the surface, rather than white. 

​To make your numbers,

1. Draw out your shapes with a china marker or other marking tool. Geometric, digital-style number shapes will be easier to cut than curves.

2. Use an angle grinder with a 4.5” (115cm) diamond blade to cut the pieces, following your guidelines. The Ubertile Zack or Oko are great blades that can be used dry or wet. 

3. Once the pieces are cut, use a diamond drill bit to drill mounting holes, such as the Ubertile diamond core bits.

4. Hang up your numbers with screws that match the colour of your tile, or paint the heads to match.
